Looking REALLY good here. Loving the final model for Sonic, and the E-102 droid looks pretty good. A major step up from the roobot masters.

Impressive. I like the CGI shot of what I think is E-102 Gamma from Sonic Adventure. Also the CGI Sonic the Hedgehog model looks freaking awesome. Just one question, when can we expect to see the release date for the final movie trailer, and the Sonic Fan Film. Keep up the excellent work!

Great, but one criticism I have is that the E-Droid looks too much like the ones in Sonic Adventure. You said it yourself that they're supposed to be the (for lack of a better word) ancestors of the SA droids, and since Sonic 1 and Adventure are supposed to take place years apart from each other, I'd expect to see the Robotnik's designs change and evolve over time. I doubt you'll actually change that considering you're almost done with the movie, but that's just a dose of feedback

@Ace2017 That though depends on the games themselves being years apart. If I remember correctly Sonic was 15 during the first game and he turned 17 during Adventure. As Robotnik's empire is quite vast, and as roboticizing an animal can expand their life expectancy a great deal, it's not too much of a stretch to think that E-102 Gamma and the rest of the E-series were built during Sonic 1 and were simply assigned to another area of the world when the events of Sonic 1 occured. Either that or this is another E-102 unit that's both the predecessor to the one appearing in Sonic 1 and whose aesthetic was so optimal it was held over for the later model. Yah, I know way too much about this game for my own good. Still, glad to see the film is progressing well and can't wait to check it out.

Hot damn! I haven't been posting much for fear of annoying you, but rest assured, I've been following this film with the eyes of an eagle. E-100 looks absolutely fantastic, a HUGE step up from the CG for the Robot Masters, Yellow Devil and Wily's Fortress in Mega Man. Sonic also looks excellent, although I kind of miss the sort of furrier look you gave him before. But it's closer to the game model, so I won't complain further. I can't wait to see the finished product. I really want to see what you do with the action scenes and the interaction between CG characters and live actors, since that was a bit of a blind spot for Mega Man.

These stills are looking great! And the trailer is awesome! really looking forward to the film. E-102 has some very nice texture work.. mia_material x networked into layered shaders for scratches? Anyhow top stuff (I saw you working on this Eddie.. If it was you your a fast learner!) I can see you have used an misss_fast_skin shader or fast_shader for sonics flesh. Its still looking a little flat at the moment and highly recommend adding some randomness through texture in the sub surface scattering layers to get a better more realistic result.

..And bump up the ambient occlusion on sonic, no contact shadows on the inner glove and arm are a real CG givaway ;)

@Jak.S Hehe, no unfortunately not. I do 3D and VFX for a living. I once worked alongside a couple of freelancers that worked at sega before, neither had worked on sonic though. I would've loved to help out on this film but I'm way too busy as it is :(

@Jak.S Its a great job, I'm very lucky although it can be majorly stressful at times with short deadlines. I opened 3ds Max once and closed it immediately lol! Being used to Maya it just messed with my head. Max is the way to go if you want to get into games though! When building your characters (deforming objects with bones etc) try and make sure your geometry is evenly spaced, all quads and as square as you can make them. I don't know if Max is the same, but in Maya you can 'paint skin weights'. should help you out. Also make sure your joints/bones are oriented properly, in maya if this isn't done the rotation axis get messed up and glitch your bound skin.
